Your maternity journey with us
Welcome to Rathdrum Medical Practice's maternity care page. We're here to guide you through your pregnancy journey, ensuring you receive the best possible care. We participate in the HSE Maternity and Infant Care Scheme which is a shared responsibility between your GP and your chosen Maternity Hospital. We work in collaboration to provide comprehensive care throughout your pregnancy.
To avail of this service book an appointment as soon as possible to confirm you are pregnant. You will then be referred for your first hospital antenatal appointment and you will be registered for the Maternity and Infant Care Scheme
This contract provided by the HSE, covers specific visits only.
The following visits are covered by this scheme:
- Booking visit GP(ideally before 12 weeks gestation)
- 24 weeks GP
- 28 weeks GP (Hospital on your 1st pregnancy)
- 30 weeks GP
- 32 weeks Hospital
- 34 weeks GP
- 36 weeks Hospital
- 37 weeks GP
- 38 weeks Hospital
- 39 weeks GP
- 40 weeks Hospital
- Postnatal care 2 week check for baby only
- 6 week check for Mum and baby
**Please note that other illnesses arising in pregnant women, e.g. chest infections, kidney infections etc, are not covered by the Maternity and Infant Scheme, so usual private fees apply (if you are a private patient).
